Job Infomation 工作概述

NYU Shanghai is seeking a two-year Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the Volatility Institute at NYU Shanghai (VINS). The candidate is expected to join VINS starting from Spring 2025, and the position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in Climate Finance, and a particular interest in the research related to China market. The position offers opportunities to work alongside top-tier scholars, including Nobel Laureates, and have access to valuable and unique databases provided by VINS through its close collaborations with top financial institutions and data providers in China. The successful candidate is expected to participate in research projects within VINS and joint research projects between the VINS and other financial institutions and schools. The position is renewable upon mutual agreement.

上海纽约大学诚招一名为期两年的博士后研究助理,加入上海纽约大学金融波动研究所(VINS)。该职位将于2025年春季正式开始,理想的候选人应具备气候金融方面的坚实背景,并对与中国市场相关的研究表现出浓厚的兴趣。此职位提供了与顶级学者,包括诺贝尔奖获得者一起工作的机会,并且由于VINS与中国的一些顶尖金融机构和数据提供商保持着紧密合作,因此该候选人将获得并使用有价值且独特的数据库的机会。该职位的候选人还将参与VINS内部研究项目以及VINS与其他金融机构和学校的联合研究项目。该职位经双方同意后可续期。


Responsibilities:

    Independently work on research projects aiming at top journal publications

    独立从事顶级期刊出版物的研究项目

    Work on VINS research projects,including data collection, cleaning, analysis, and writing reports

    承担金融波动研究所的研究项目,包括数据搜集、筛选、分析及撰写研究报告

    Participate in joint research projects between VINS and other financial institutions/schools

    参与金融波动研究所与其他金融机构/高校的联合研究项目

    Assist the executive director on academic research studies including literature review, data processing, and analysis

    协助研究所所长完成其他相关学术研究工作如文献综述、数据处理和分析等

    Help VINS conferences and workshops

    协助学术会议和研讨会

    Any additional responsibilities related to Institute resources and activities that fall under the purview of the Research Fellow

    Qualified candidates must be recent Ph.D./ABD from top universities in China or abroad, majoring in Finance, Statistics or Econometrics

    近年获得国内外一流大学金融学、统计学或计量经济学博士学位

    Genuinely interested in research and capable of executing research projects with little supervision

    对研究感兴趣,致力于从事研究行业,能独立开展研究项目

    Have proven ability to use sophisticated econometric tools to analyze complex financial data on a large scale

    能够熟练运用各种数据分析工具,有对大规模数据进行分析处理的能力

    Be able to conduct research and write research papers/reports in both English and Mandarin with a high level of fluency

    能够熟练应用中英文进行学术论文和报告的写作

    Be familiar with Chinese financial markets, and have strong background in finance and  statistics

The Volatility Institute at NYU Shanghai (VINS), located in the Qiantan (the New Bund) neighborhood of Pudong District, near to Shanghai’s new hub of finance, technology and other key industries. VINS aims to create opportunities for research focused on both the Chinese financial markets and markets around the world. VINS is dedicated to advancing China's financial reform and development, particularly in the field of climate finance. It provides policy recommendations to government and regulatory authorities on the impact of climate change on the financial system and supports industry participants in achieving sustainable economic development while addressing climate change challenges.
